Conscious by Design

At Intention, we believe that style can be an expression of care — for the planet, for the people, and for the purpose behind every product. We also believe that sustainability should be communicated with clarity, not hype.

Our anti-greenwashing promise: We don't claim perfection. We avoid vague language like "eco-friendly" without context. We try to separate facts (what we do today) from goals (what we're working on), and we'll update this page as our practices evolve. If something we write here is unclear or inaccurate, we want to know — and we'll fix it.

Made-to-Order by Design

We use a made-to-order model: items are produced after you place an order rather than manufactured in large pre-made batches. This approach can help:

  • Reduce overproduction and unsold inventory waste.
  • Limit unnecessary storage and disposal associated with mass production.
  • Support more distributed fulfillment, producing closer to customers when possible.

Made-to-order also means production takes time. We see this as part of mindful shopping: fewer impulse purchases, more intentional choices.

Returns: We accept returns in line with our Return & Refund Policy. Returns create additional transport and handling, so we work to minimise avoidable returns through clearer product information, sizing guidance, and our Satisfaction Guarantee for wall art and phone cases (which avoids reverse shipping entirely). Returns are managed through our regional return portals at intentioncph.com/returns.

Materials

We aim to choose materials that balance comfort, durability, and lower impact when available. Depending on the product, this may include organic or recycled fibres and responsibly sourced components. Not every product contains certified organic or recycled materials.

Some products require specific performance materials. For example, certain accessories (such as phone cases) may be made from materials like polycarbonate (PC) and TPU for protection and flexibility. When we use these materials, we don't present them as "sustainable" — we describe them plainly and focus on making products that last.

"Organic in Conversion" (what it means): Some of our products may be labelled Organic in Conversion. This means the fibre (for example cotton) comes from farms that are in the transition period from conventional to certified organic practices. During this time, farms follow organic methods and are working toward full organic certification, but the crop may not yet qualify as fully certified organic.

When you see Organic in Conversion on a product page, we use it to describe this transition status — not as a claim that the product is already fully certified organic. If you ever want clarification for a specific product, email us at support@intentioncph.com and we'll share what we know about that item's material sourcing.

When available from our supply chain, we prefer third-party standards and certifications as an added layer of accountability (examples may include GOTS/OCS for organic fibres, GRS for recycled content, or OEKO-TEX for chemical safety). Availability varies by product and supplier, and we aim to be specific at the product level wherever we can.

Continuous improvement: If lower-impact material options become available that meet our requirements for durability, safety, feel, and print quality, we will evaluate them and consider replacing current materials. We'll update product pages and this policy as changes are implemented.

Production & Fulfillment Partners

We work with a distributed production partner network that operates multiple print and fulfillment hubs across Europe and North America. This allows many orders to be produced closer to the delivery destination when possible, rather than shipping everything from a single central facility.

  • Distributed production: production may be routed to different hubs depending on product availability and capacity.
  • Made-to-order: items are produced after purchase, which can help reduce overproduction and unsold inventory.
  • Practical improvements: materials, packaging, and processes can vary by location and evolve over time.

When possible, orders are produced closer to the delivery destination. This can reduce long-distance transport compared to a single central facility. Routes vary by item and location, so we describe this as an approach rather than a guarantee.

Transparency on request: If you'd like to know which partner or hub produced a specific item, email support@intentioncph.com with your order number (or the product link), and we'll share what we can.

Clarity, Limits & How We Talk About Impact

Sustainability is complex. There are trade-offs in materials, production, and logistics, and we don't want to oversimplify them. To avoid greenwashing, we follow these principles:

  • No "100% sustainable" claims: we don't present any product as impact-free.
  • No unverified "carbon neutral" language: unless we can transparently document it.
  • Specific over vague: we aim to use clear statements you can understand and challenge.
  • Fact vs goal: we label improvements as "we aim to" until they're implemented and verifiable.

Our Commitments

Sustainability for us is not a marketing word — it's a practice we're building step by step. Here's what we commit to:

  • Transparency: answer reasonable questions about materials, production, and logistics.
  • Accuracy: avoid overstated claims and correct mistakes when discovered.
  • Continuous improvement: improve product information to help customers make better choices and reduce avoidable returns.

Sustainability Policy – FAQ

Our made-to-order model ensures that every product is created only when it's truly wanted. This approach helps us avoid overproduction, reduce waste, and support local fulfilment - creating a more sustainable and intentional way of shopping. We also call it mindful shopping.

It depends on the product. Our apparel uses a range of responsibly sourced fabrics, including 100% organic cotton, organic in conversion cotton, and recycled polyester. "Organic in conversion" means the cotton comes from farms transitioning from conventional to certified organic practices - they follow organic methods but haven't completed the full certification period yet. Recycled polyester is made from post-consumer materials such as PET bottles, reducing reliance on virgin plastic. Some products, like phone cases, use performance materials such as polycarbonate and TPU for durability - we don't label those as sustainable, we just make them to last. You'll find specific fabric details and certifications listed on each product page.

We collaborate with Gelato, a global production partner with a distributed network of print and fulfilment hubs across Europe and North America. When possible, orders are produced at a hub closer to you, which can help reduce shipping distances. All items are made to order after purchase, so nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be sold.

We actually do. Apparel and accessories can be returned within 14 days, and your first return is free. For wall art and phone cases, we offer a Satisfaction Guarantee instead - if something isn't right, contact us with a photo and we'll arrange a replacement, credit, or refund without requiring a return. These items are fragile and custom-produced, so skipping reverse shipping avoids unnecessary transport waste and damage. If any item arrives damaged or defective, we'll replace it free of charge - just reach out at support@intentioncph.com.
