What each piece is made of

Intention Wear

  • Unisex T-shirt & Unisex Long Sleeve: 100% organic in-conversion cotton, OCS IC2 certified, from farms in the three-year transition to certified organic agriculture. 175 gsm jersey. Grey Melange: 85% organic cotton / 15% viscose.
  • Men's Fitted T-shirt: 100% organically grown cotton, certified to the Organic Content Standard (OCS). 175 gsm jersey. Ash and Grey Melange include a small viscose blend.
  • Men's & Women's Oversized T-shirt: GOTS-certified organic cotton in conversion, from farms in their final years of transition. 180 gsm combed cotton.
  • Unisex Crewneck Sweatshirt: 80% OCS-certified organic cotton / 20% GRS-certified recycled polyester. 280 gsm French Terry.
  • Organic Unisex Hoodie: 80% OCS-certified organic cotton / 20% GRS-certified recycled polyester. 280 gsm fleece.
  • Recycled Blend Unisex Hoodie: 80% conventional cotton / 20% GRS-certified recycled polyester. 280 gsm brushed fleece.
  • Recycled Blend Oversized Hoodie: 80% conventional cotton / 20% GRS-certified recycled polyester. Grey Melange uses recycled cotton in place of the polyester. 450 gsm.

Two of our garments are not made from organic cotton, and we would rather say so here than let the word "organic" cover the whole range. The two Recycled Blend hoodies use conventional cotton with certified recycled polyester. Everything else on this list is organic or organic in conversion.

Wall Art

  • Paper: 250 gsm (110 lb) master's edition paper, uncoated matte, natural off-white, 0.29 mm. Our production partner warrants it as FSC-certified or to an equivalent standard. We state it with that hedge because that is exactly what the supplier warrants, no more.
  • Frames: oak and ash on the Premium Wood Frame, solid pine on the Wood Frame. The Premium frame's back panel is documented by our production partner as responsibly sourced MDF with FSC certification.
  • Glazing: shatterproof plexiglass, with a hanging kit included.

We do not hold our own FSC chain-of-custody certificate, so you will not see an FSC mark on our products. We state the material fact in words, and only as far as the source goes.

Accessories

  • Tote bags: 100% certified organic cotton.
  • Beanies: one style in 100% organically grown cotton, certified to the Organic Content Standard and verified by Control Union; one in a recycled polyester and acrylic blend, made by Atlantis Headwear.
  • Phone cases: polycarbonate, or polycarbonate over flexible TPU on the Tough cases; the Flexi case is TPU, free of BPA, phthalates and PVC. Printed with water-based inks.

Made to order

We hold no stock. Every piece is printed only after you order it, in your chosen design, size and colour. We produce exactly what is ordered, nothing more. Your order is produced at the production hub nearest your delivery address whenever that is possible, so parcels travel shorter distances.

Who makes our pieces

Our pieces are produced by a production partner, named in our Shipping policy and in our Privacy policy. Here is what that partner publishes, so you can read it yourself rather than take our word for it.

  • A supplier code of conduct that references ILO Conventions 29 and 105 (forced labour), 138 and 182 (child labour), 87 and 98 (freedom of association and collective bargaining), and 100 and 111 (equal remuneration and discrimination). It prohibits child labour, slavery, servitude and human trafficking, and requires minimum and overtime wages at the higher of local law or industry standard.
  • A board-signed human-rights due diligence report, dated 20 June 2025, published under the Norwegian Transparency Act and the UK Modern Slavery Act. It states that all production partners and suppliers in the supply chain of physical products have signed the supplier code of conduct, and that suppliers were risk-assessed through the EcoVadis platform in 2024.
  • The garment blanks are not ours to choose. Our partner works with a set of apparel brands that varies by country, product and location, and a specific blank brand cannot be ordered. Where SOL'S blanks are used, SOL'S has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation since 2014 and scored 75 out of 100 in its 2024 Brand Performance Check. SOL'S publishes that its textile range is manufactured primarily in Bangladesh, Pakistan and China, across roughly 550 independent factories, and that 70% of its producing factories were audited, with 84% of its catalogue coming from an audited factory.

What we cannot tell you yet

These are open, and we would rather write them down than imply we know more than we do.

  • Which factory made your garment, and in which country. Our production partner does not publish a country of manufacture, and reserves the right to substitute an equivalent blank. So we cannot name one for any single order.
  • Whether the paper is always FSC. The supplier warrants "FSC-certified or equivalent". We have asked what the equivalent is, and in which regions it applies. When we have the answer, this page and our product pages will say it precisely, and the hedge will come off or stay on as the answer requires.
  • Which standard certifies our tote-bag cotton. The product data says certified organic without naming the standard. We are confirming it.
  • Our carbon footprint. We publish no emissions figure and make no carbon-neutral or net-zero claim. We have not measured our own footprint, and we will not repeat a supplier's number as if it were ours.
  • GOTS, GRS and OCS are the certifications of the materials and their suppliers, not of Intention. We are not ourselves a certified party under any of them.

Care

Each product page carries specific care instructions. Washing cold and air-drying uses less energy and keeps the fabric beautiful for longer. With the right care, a piece stays with you for years.

Sources

Every claim above can be checked against these documents. They belong to our production partner and to the material suppliers, and we link them unedited.

Questions

About our sustainability policy

Our made-to-order model ensures that every product is created only when it's truly wanted. This approach helps us avoid overproduction, reduce waste, and support local fulfilment - creating a calmer, more intentional way of shopping. We also call it mindful shopping.

It depends on the piece, and the exact composition is listed on every product page. Our t-shirts and long sleeves are organic cotton, some certified to OCS, some GOTS, much of it organic in conversion, meaning it comes from farms in the three-year transition to full organic certification. The organic hoodie and the crewneck sweatshirt combine OCS-certified organic cotton with GRS-certified recycled polyester. Our two Recycled Blend hoodies use conventional cotton with GRS-certified recycled polyester. They are not organic, and we would rather say so than let one word cover the whole range. Phone cases use polycarbonate and TPU, chosen to last rather than to sound green.

Every piece is made to order by our production partner, who is named in our Shipping policy. Where possible your order is produced at the hub nearest your delivery address, so parcels travel shorter distances. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be sold. What that partner requires of its factories, a supplier code of conduct citing the ILO conventions and a board-signed human-rights report from June 2025, is linked from our Materials & Production page.

We actually do. Apparel and accessories can be returned within 14 days, and your first return is free. For wall art and phone cases we offer a Satisfaction Guarantee instead: if something is not right, send a photo and we arrange a replacement, credit or refund without a return. These pieces are fragile and made to order, so skipping return shipping avoids transport waste and damage. If anything arrives damaged or faulty we replace it free of charge. Everything starts on the Returns page.
