Are the frames real wood, and what type of wood is used?
Yes. The Premium Wood Frame is made from oak and ash. Each frame shows its own natural wood grain, so every piece carries a quiet, unique character.
- Wood: oak and ash with visible grain that adds warmth and depth.
- Profile: 20 mm (0.79") thickness and width, slightly wider than our classic 14 mm (0.55") frame for a more solid, gallery-style presence.
What's the difference between the premium oak and ash frame and the classic pine frame?
The difference is the wood and the profile. The Premium Wood Frame uses oak and ash with a wider 20 mm (0.79") gallery profile for a more solid, refined presence on the wall. The classic Wood Frame uses durable pine with a slimmer 10 to 14 mm (0.4" to 0.6") face for a lighter, more understated look. Both use the same museum-quality 250 gsm matte paper and shatterproof plexiglass, so the choice is about how much presence you want the frame itself to have.
Why is the Premium Wood Frame priced higher than the classic Wood Frame?
The higher price is about the frame itself, not the artwork. The print, museum-quality 250 gsm matte paper and shatterproof plexiglass are identical on both. The Premium Wood Frame is made from oak and ash (a hardwood with a richer, more characterful grain) in a wider 20 mm (0.79") gallery profile, so it feels more solid and has more presence on the wall. The classic Wood Frame uses durable pine in a slimmer 10 to 14 mm (0.4" to 0.6") face for a lighter, more understated look. You're paying for the upgraded wood and the heavier, gallery-style profile.
What paper is the art printed on, and is 250 gsm matte good quality?
Yes. It is printed on master's edition 250 gsm (110 lb) fine art paper at 0.29 mm (11.4 mils) thickness, a museum-quality weight chosen for clarity, richness, and longevity.
- Finish: archival matte, uncoated, natural white (off-white). It reduces glare and lets the artwork breathe in a soft, refined way.
- Paper certification: FSC-certified materials (or equivalent), supporting more responsible forestry and mindful consumption.
Does the framed art arrive ready to hang?
Yes. Every piece arrives already framed with a hanging kit included. Just unwrap, hang, and feel the shift in your space. No extra tools, framing trip, or assembly needed.
Is the glazing real glass or shatterproof plexiglass, and will it break or scratch?
The artwork is protected by shatterproof plexiglass rather than glass, so it will not shatter in transit or handling and stays light enough to hang easily. To keep it clear and scratch-free, wipe only with a soft microfiber cloth and avoid paper towels or abrasive sponges.
How do I clean and care for my framed print without damaging it?
Your framed print is made to last, and a little gentle care keeps its beauty and energy for years.
- Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe the plexiglass and wooden frame.
- For fingerprints, lightly dampen the cloth with water only, wipe gently, then dry with a clean, soft cloth.
- Avoid paper towels, rough fabrics, or abrasive sponges. They can scratch the surface.
- Never use strong household cleaners, glass sprays, or solvents, as they can damage both the plexiglass and the print.
- Hold the frame with two hands from the sides or bottom, and rest it on a clean, soft surface when moving or rehanging.
Where should I hang it to keep the print from fading?
Hang your art away from direct, harsh sunlight to preserve the depth and vibrancy of the print over time. Also avoid very damp or humid spots (such as directly above a steamy shower), since moisture can affect both the paper and the frame. Always hang it on a secure hook or screw that can carry the weight of the frame.
Is the frame and paper sustainably and responsibly made?
Partly. We would rather be precise than simply say yes. The paper is FSC-certified or made to an equivalent standard, which supports responsible forestry. For the frame timber, our production partner publishes the wood species but no sourcing certification, so we do not claim one. Like everything we make, each piece is produced to order, which helps avoid overproduction and encourages more mindful consumption. How is the framed art packaged so it arrives safely?
Each frame is carefully protected with corner guards, wrapping, and a box with strong, reinforced edges. For extra sturdiness we add internal I-beams to stabilise the package (especially for multi-item orders of up to 3 frames in one box), so your art travels safely from our hands to your home.
